Was Desegregation the 20th Century’s Abolition of Slavery?

In his book “SIlent Covenants,” Critical Race Theorist Derrick Bell compares the political and cultural effects of Brown Vs Board of Education to those associated with the Emancipation Proclamation. The former desegregated black schools in the early 1950s in the U.S. The latter was obviously Abraham Lincoln’s executive action to outlaw slavery federally in America, which theoretically ended slavery there.
