Newest Mindgasms book review in my series on the Hegelian/Lacanian/Marxist philosopher, Slavoj Zizek’s book called Less Than Nothing. I am Studying Zizek’s work to develop a better understanding of Hegel’s thoughts on aesthetics, among all the other fascinating subjects that he discusses. This paragraph is about the psychoanalyst, Lacan’s idea of the “Big Other” beying connected to the Christian notion of the Holy Ghost, along with Freud’s theory behind what he called humanity’s death drive, and Kant’s possible thoughts on it.
Mindgasms Book Review on a paragraph in the famous Hegelian/Lacanian/Marxist philosopher, Slavoj Zizek’s book called Less Than Nothing. It’s about his claim that Hegel was somewhat of a sophist, according to Plato’s definition. He also talks about the idea of truth as immanent, meaning that we change it as much as it changes us. To Zizek, from the perspective of Hegel, we can see truth as a convenient fiction that allows us to effectively navigate through our lives. This leads to what Zizek calls the Pragmatic Contradiction, meaning that the philosophical Pragmatist definition of truth is paradoxically a lie.
