Parker and the Woke Centrist A.K.A. Dustin Cubit A.K.A. Dusty Cubes are back for our first Mindgasms Book Club Chat on the novel called The Stand, by Stephen King. It’s about a virus that destroys society and decimates the human population, along with the people who meet and form two new cities and governments that go to religious war with each other in this post-apocalyptic world. We discuss the way that the nature of good and evil are explored in the book, including how that binary is slightly broken down by the good characters being flawed and having traces of evil in them, and the bad characters having traces of good in them. The different moral choices that the characters make that push them toward either the light, led by Mother Abigail, or the dark. led by The Dark Man A.K.A. Randall Flagg, are also explored. We talk about the importance of valuing heart and intuition more than intellect in the novel as well, along with the religious purpose that the characters serve, and the eternal struggle between good and evil that is shown at the end of the book. Also, we talk about relationships, how they relate to those between the characters in The Stand, and joke about domestic violence:
